How it works

01

Just copy

Nothing to set up, nothing to tidy.

02

Knows a keeper

Throwaways fade, the good stuff stays.

03

Private first

Secrets are caught on-device.

Agent Skills

Copy a skills repo.
Install it everywhere.

Copy a link to an Agent Skills repository and Shelfclip spots it, lists the skills inside and flags the ones that run scripts. One click installs them for every AI tool on your Mac.

Spotted when you copy

A link to a skills repo lands on the Skills shelf with every skill inside listed, and the ones that include scripts flagged before you install anything.

One click, every tool

Pick the skills you want and install them for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI — every AI tool Shelfclip finds on your Mac.

Works with the skills CLI

Installed in the same layout as npx skills, so the CLI keeps working with them. When a skill you installed changes upstream, Shelfclip tells you.

The library

Nine shelves.
Zero folders.

Every clip is judged keeper or throwaway, filed on one of nine fixed shelves, and given 1–3 tags that snap onto the ones you already have. Move two clips from the same site to the same shelf and Shelfclip learns the rule. Come back later, calmly, for that thing you copied last week.

Five stars. In-depth · Original · Practical

How to choose what to work on, and the habits that let you do your best work on it.

  1. 1Choose work you have a natural aptitude for and a deep interest in.
  2. 2Learn enough to reach a frontier, then look for the gaps.
  3. 3Curiosity and your own projects keep you going.

For your AI tools

Your assistants
read the shelves too.

Shelfclip is an MCP server. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT or any assistant that speaks MCP, and it can find what you copied — the doc link, the snippet, the command from last Tuesday.

Search, once you allow it

Sign in and approve each assistant. It can search and read your clips; secrets were never uploaded, so they can’t come back out.

Its saves get their own shelf

Tick “save and delete” and an assistant can save clips for you. They land on a From agents shelf, expire when it says, and it can only delete clips it saved itself.

On your iPhone

Every shelf,
in your pocket.

With Pro, sign in on your Mac and your iPhone and they share one library. Copy something on the Mac and it’s on your phone seconds later — already judged, filed and tagged. Things you save on the phone land on the same shelves.

Shelves sync in seconds

The same nine shelves, the same tags and the From agents shelf — updated live while the app is open.

Save from any app

Open Shelfclip and what you copied is saved. Or send a page, a link or some text from the share sheet in any app — also one tap away from the Home Screen widget, Control Center or the Action Button.

Search by meaning

Type “that ryokan in Kyoto” and find “Ryokan in Arashiyama, dinner included” — no exact words needed.

Get it on the App StoreSync and search by meaning are part of Pro.

The Shelfclip iPhone app: All clips with the shelves across the top (Read, Ideas, Reference, Prompts), the Today card, a pinned git command, a PDF being sorted and an article on Read.

Privacy

Secrets never
leave the device.

Shelfclip reads what you copy, so privacy is the product, not a footnote. The rules live in code — on your device first, then again on our server. Read the privacy policy

Caught on the device

Passwords from password managers, API keys, private keys, one-time codes and card numbers are recognised on your Mac, iPhone or in the browser extension and never uploaded.

Gone within the hour

Those clips stay on the device you copied them on and delete themselves after one hour.

Files stay local

Files from Finder never leave your Mac. A picture is sorted by the text read from it on the device; the picture itself is uploaded only to sync it, on Pro.

Only text goes up

The text and links you copy travel over an encrypted connection to be sorted — and, on Pro, synced. Each account’s clips live in their own isolated storage.

You decide what it reads

Pause capture for an hour, or tell Shelfclip to ignore an app — a copy from an ignored app is never read, not even into memory.

No ads, tracking or training

No ads, no analytics trackers, and your clips never train AI models. Delete your account and your library goes with it.

Questions

Plain
answers.

How do things get into Shelfclip?
On a Mac, just copy. On iPhone, open Shelfclip and it saves what you copied, or use the share sheet, the Home Screen widget, Control Center or the Action Button. In Chrome, the Shelfclip extension saves a page, link or selection. And AI assistants you connect can save clips too. Shelfclip files everything on one of nine shelves: Read, Ideas, Reference, Prompts, Tools, Code, Skills, People and Shopping.
Can I write notes or to-dos in it?
No. Shelfclip collects what you copy and share; it isn’t a notes app or a task manager. You can add a one-line annotation to any clip, move it to another shelf, pin it or delete it.
What actually gets uploaded?
The text and links you copy, so our servers (on Cloudflare) can judge, file, tag and sync them. Sensitive copies such as passwords, API keys, one-time codes and card numbers are caught on your device and never sent, and files never leave your Mac. Pictures are sorted by the text read from them on the device; the picture itself is uploaded only to sync it, on Pro. Details are in the privacy policy.
Why upload my text at all? Some clipboard apps keep everything on the device.
Because the part that files things for you — judging what’s worth keeping, choosing the shelf, writing tags, gists and key points, and search by meaning — runs on AI models on our servers, and one library on your Mac, iPhone, the web and your assistants needs a copy there. What goes up is the text and links you copy, over an encrypted connection, into storage that belongs to your account alone. Secrets and files never leave your device, clip text is never used to train models, and deleting your account deletes the library. You can pause capture or make Shelfclip ignore an app entirely at any time, and export everything whenever you like.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Capturing, searching and pasting all happen on your device with no network. New clips wait their turn and get organised when you’re back online.
Do I need an account?
No. Shelfclip works from the first copy without one. Sign in — with Apple, Google or a code sent to your email — to connect an AI assistant or the Chrome extension, or with Pro to have one library on your Mac, iPhone and the web.
What does Free include?
Your latest 100 clips on each device, 100 clips organised by AI a month, the quick panel and instant search. New copies are always saved; older clips stay on the device, hidden, and come back when you upgrade. Free doesn’t sync: your Mac, iPhone and the Chrome extension each keep their own clips. Pro adds your whole history and one library across Mac, iPhone and the web.
Is there a Windows or Android version?
No. Shelfclip is for Mac and iPhone, with an extension for Chrome, and Pro includes a web library you can open in any browser. We’re not promising other platforms.
Where do I get the iPhone app?
On the App Store. The same listing has Shelfclip for Mac, and Pro bought on either unlocks both.
I downloaded the Mac app from this site. How do I get Pro?
Pro is sold only through the App Store. Buy it in Shelfclip on your iPhone, or from the Mac App Store (the Get Pro button in the Mac app’s Account settings opens it), then sign in on this Mac with the same account — Pro turns on here too.
How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?
Apple handles billing: cancel any time in your Apple Account’s Subscriptions settings (on iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions) at least 24 hours before the renewal date, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Anything else, write to support@shelfclip.com.
Which AI assistants can connect?
Any assistant that can use a remote MCP server with sign-in — Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT and others. You approve each one. Searching is the default; saving and deleting is a separate permission you tick yourself, and an assistant can only delete clips it saved.
What does the skills install do?
Agent Skills are folders of instructions (a SKILL.md) that tools like Claude Code, Codex and Cursor load when they need them. When you copy a link to a skills repo on your Mac, Shelfclip lists what’s inside, flags skills that include scripts, and installs the ones you pick into ~/.agents/skills with a link for each tool — the layout npx skills uses, so the CLI can still update or remove them.
